Tirian's ProActive Workshops are designed to provide access to good quality health education for local village communities in remote regions in developing countries.

In 1996 a team of health and education professionals in spent several months designing a comprehensive Kindergarten to Grade 12 health curriculum in India as part of the HEPI team (Health Education Promotion International). The result was the production of the Total Schools Health Program, which is now being successfully implemented in a number of schools across India and internationally.

The directors of Tirian (Andrew & Gaia Grant) were part of this original team, and they have now created several independent workshop kits on key topics which are available for health teachers to use in Indonesia (with full Indonesian translation) and internationally. After an initial pilot project with the Sumba Foundation in October 2009, training staff to deliver the workshops using the kits, a number of excellent workshops were run with teachers, nurses and directly with children in schools remote schools. Whole communities are being positively impacted as a result.

These PAKs (ProActive Kits) include lesson plans (Sample PDF downloads), DVD training videos, teacher aids, and everything needed to teach the program.

This workshop series aims to:

  1. Empower children and youth
so that they may enhance their own health and that of their families and community. The student may then become the best health promoter in his/her community.
  2. Raise the skills and self-esteem of teachers
so that they may be proud to be a teacher and so enhance the whole teaching/learning process,
  3. Improve the infrastructure of all communities
i.e. clean, operating toilets, drinking water, and the community environment as a whole.
  4. Outreach in a positive way to families and community
that the school may better serve its community.

The Glass Ceiling

2 billion people live on $2 a day. Now, for 2 hours your team can see how you fare with the $2 a day challenge through this perception changing simulation.

Many of us struggle to get to the top in business , but what must it be like to struggle to run a business at the bottom? Our new CSR program will challenge your business skills, your leadership abilities, your team and the way you see life, and at the same time help you understand the challenges of poverty and how everyone is affected. Tirian has adopted this popular TEAR program, and to add real authenticity to it can run it with our HK CSR partner the Crossroads Foundation in their special simulation centre or in conjunction with our development partners in Bali at the ROLE Foundation in Bali - where teams can not only learn about CSR, but spend some time doing it.

"This was one of the most profound programs we could have ever taken our team on"
Dr Adrian Eberle / DKSH.
